The case for "Why"

Di: "Allie, please sit down."
Allie: "Why?"
Di: "Because jumping in the bathtub is dangerous"
A: "Why?"
Di: "Because I asked you once and if I ask you again your bath will be finished."
A: "Why?" **See the theme here?**
Di (completely exasperated): "Why don't you tell me why you shouldn't jump in the bathtub?"
A: "Because you will be sad and you love me and Daddy would be sad."
Di: (completely in love with this small child): "Yes, I would be sad if you got hurt."
A: "I will not jump. Watch me swimming."

And then she pretty much dived into the bath... sigh.
